Two days, the 27th and 28th, we went on the Ob River, wonderful spaces; had such talks, so much was given to us; we were thought [of at] every moment. Unforgettable days. Very hot. Poor Mother suffered terribly. When we arrived in Barnaul, the steamer which was supposed to take us over from our boat did not arrive; so it took the whole next day in Barnaul, up to three o’clock in the morning, until the other boat came and took us over. It is getting cooler, the sea level is rising. A tremendous river is the Ob and so wide.
On the 30th, arrived in Biisk after traveling a long day on the River Ob. Arrived a day and a half later than scheduled. A small city, very quaint; hired drivers—four carriages; got everything together, packed the whole day, took a bath, sat together, received a message. <…>
